This paper proposes an OTA-based Type Ⅲ compensator, along with a range search type zero-current detection (ZCD) boost converter for IoT SoC module operation. The proposed boost converter is implemented using Samsung's 130nm BCDMOS process. In conventional ZCD structures, the ZCD circuit operates later than the zero current point to turn off the PMOS, resulting in lower efficiency. In contrast, the proposed range search type ZCD structure can operate faster than the zero current point to turn off the PMOS. Therefore, the range search type ZCD design improves power loss due to reverse current. Notably, to address the instability caused by the boost converter operating in Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM), this paper introduces an OTA-based Type Ⅲ compensator. This compensator significantly enhances the stability of the entire loop, thereby improving the system's reliability. The input voltage range of the proposed boost converter is 1.2V, and the output voltage is set to 6V. By incorporating the OTA-based Type-Ⅲ compensator, we have designed a boost converter system circuit that achieves high efficiency and stability simultaneously. |
