The rotary variable differential transformer (RVDT) shows superior performance compared with the conventional rotation detection sensor. The RVDT features excellent durability and reliability can be ensured because electronic parts are not used in the main body of a sensor. Conventional analog RVDT signal processors require additional circuit for phase correction. In this paper, we propose digital RVDT signal processor based on Costas Loop technology. The RVDT signal processor applying digital signal processing techniques has the point that is no need to add an additional circuit for phase correction compared with the existing analog technology. We implement proposed RVDT signal processor using MagnaChip/SK Hynix 180 nm CMOS process.
