Content-addressable memory (CAM) is a high-speed search memory used for applications requiring high speed because all data stored in memory is parallelly compared and output. Ternary content-addressable memory can store 'X' (do not care) in addition to '0' and '1' in comparison with general Binary CAM, thereby enabling more efficient search operation. The large capacity TCAM increases the bit and address of the word, which increases the number of match lines and search lines and capacitance. As a result, match lines and search lines take up a large portion of TCAM power consumption. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an improved selective match line charging scheme that selectively reduces the TCAM cell which reduces the capacitance of the match line and the matched match line to reduce the power consumption of the match line. |
