This work presents a high-speed PAM-3 transmitter that employs an encoding scheme designed to maximize signal transitions. By maximizing the number of transitions, the scheme effectively reduces data-dependent jitter (DDJ) caused by consecutive identical digits (CID). The proposed encoding limits the maximum CID length to three, thereby mitigating jitter accumulation. In addition, a phase equalizer is employed to compensate for intersymbol interference (ISI) induced by CID occurrences, while an amplitude equalizer further enhances signal integrity. The transmitter adopts an n-over-n single-ended voltage-mode driver, targeting low-power operation in mobile interface applications. |
