There is an increasing demand for real-time neural signal monitoring from a large number of electrode contacts to provide adequate spatial and temporal resolution for brain mapping and high-resolution neural interface. This paper proposed a multichannel neural recording front-end system to record target neural signals, such as neural spikes, from a large number of electrodes with a smaller number of recording channels. The system utilizes an adaptive channel selection technique to efficiently scan the electrode arrays and only record from selected electrodes where neural spikes are detected. The neural recording front-end system, which consists of analog and mixed-signal circuit blocks, will be fabricated in a Magna-Hynix 180 nm standard CMOS process and the system operates at a supply voltage of 1.8 V. |
