A monolithic approach is designed using MagnaChip/SK Hynix CMOS 0.35-µm process to develop a 1024-channel electrocorticography (ECoG) sensor array. The circuits consist of a 1024-channel ECoG sensor array, wireless data transmitter, wireless power receiver, and voltage regulator. Each ECoG sensor has a small design area of 70 µm × 70 µm to integrate a transconductance amplifier with ~7,000 V/V gain. With such size, a 1024 amplifier array occupies 3.7 mm × 3.7 mm area. The ECoG sensor uses delta modulation. The power will be provided to the chip using wireless link at 2.64 MHz. The wireless data transmitter operates at a carrier frequency of 433 MHz, which is the highest operating frequency, to wirelessly transmit the output from the ECoG sensor array. Circuits are designed to operate at 3.3 V. |
